Forgive Nest
Body Made of Stars for the Full Moon in Cancer and the Dawn of the New Cycle
2026 has arrived, and it starts not with a bang, not with a whimper, but with a great exhale. With the Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars all arrayed in Capricorn, today marks a Full Moon opposite this powerful alignment in the nourishing waters of Cancer. After a year of great transformation that was capped by some challenging aspects in December, this Moon is an invitation to unburden ourselves of what has been and to start this new year fresh. To root and to rise in forgiveness. To make your home in a forgive nest.
Cancer and Capricorn compose one of the most fascinating diads in the zodiac. Cancer, the the first Water, the sign of the mother and the home. Capricorn, the final earth, the great work, the sign of empire and old age. Together, they call us in to remember how the cradle is launching place for the hero’s journey of life, and how all of our hard work and big ambitions are meant to lead us back home, to the heart, to the hearth, to the simple things that really matter.
This is why it is such a blessing to begin this year with this. Look around you and remember that you are more than your work. Your life is made of the love you share and the love that you receive. Even as you are on your path, this Moon teaches us to be gentle with ourselves, to work to make our home our temples and, in the depths of winter, to nest in with our beloveds, so that new life might flourish in the form of the project, the resolution, the babies, the creations that we are going to bring forth as this new cycle begins.
We are definitely lucky to have this moon now because not too long 2026 is going to get very, very real. Saturn and Neptune are both direct in Pisces and are headed towards their conjunction at the 0° Aries on February 20th. Uranus, still retrograde in Taurus, will also soon turn direct and head into his new era, when the revolutionary electricity hits the streets and the forums and the town square of Gemini. These outer planet transits will be some of the defining themes of the early part of this year, and it is wise for us to meet them from the grounded, compose, patient, and playful place. As the old sailor maxim goes – you can’t change the wind, but you can adjust your sails.
Astrology, this science of time revered in cultures across the world for many millennia, is our celestial navigation system by which we can come to know the past, the present and the future, and to prepare ourselves accordingly. In that spirit, I’m excited to be offering my fifth annual Body Made of Stars astrology of 2026 seminar online in person here on Salt Spring Island next week, January 8th, from 6 to 8 PM pacific time. If you’re interested in attending, RSVP here.
One key theme of 2026 is going to be reclaiming our attention. The conjunction ongoing between the Sun, Venus, and Mars gives us the grit to do just that. Capricorn is an invitation to discipline. It is the perfect moment in the calendar to set and keep new resolutions.
I am calling 2026 my year of creative discipline – a year when I cultivate the space within myself and in my life to bring forth the quintessence of gratitude, brilliance and joy that lives inside me into the world every single day. What are you working on? What are you building towards? And who or what must you forgive to make space for that newness to come into your life?
It’s worth it. I promise. And no matter what lies ahead, know that you are beyond blessed to be here. To live and to love in bodies made of stars.
In Trust and Forgiveness
Samu
